When you think of cool hats there are so many different opinions as to what it means. To one person a cool hat is one that makes the wearer look cool like perhaps a trucker style cap with a cool saying printed on the front. For others it can mean a specially made hat that can help keep their head cool when they have to work out in the desert sun. Thus cool can be a fashion statement or a matter of functionality, depending on the type of hat you are looking at.

For many cool caps means having a unique baseball or trucker cap that has a witty slogan or picture on the front and there are literally thousands of them available. Cool hats can also be the ones that support your favorite team or your school, cool really is in the eye of the wearer. What may appear cool to one person might seem absolutely ridiculous to another. It can also be in the way a person wears a particular hat, for instance in many suburban areas it is considered cool to wear your cap backwards with the bill over your neck.

Hats are not just for the summer months however, when the weather gets cold it is time to break out the winter hats and cover up to stay warm. Other popular hats for cold wintery weather include heavy woolen newsboy caps, even cowboy hats as the object is to keep your head warm. According to research much of your body heat is lost through your head and if you keep your head warm the rest of your feels warmer too.

In recent years the military or state trooper style winter hat has become popular. This very warm hat has a fur lining and fur lined flaps that can be dropped and securing in place over your ears keeping you warm in the worst of climate. They are based on the older military pilot's helmet liner from the days when the cockpits were not heated and have since been adapted for use in the civilian world with great success.
